Induced After Death Communication | Grief Therapy

IADC Therapy: What It Is and How It Helps with Grief, Anxiety, and Healing

Induced After-Death Communication (IADC) is a brief, evidence-informed therapy developed by Dr. Allan Botkin, designed to support individuals who are grieving the loss of a loved one. Rooted in a modified form of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), IADC is a focused, accelerated grief therapy that aims to reduce the intense emotional pain and deep sadness that can accompany loss.

While IADC does not “solve” or erase grief, it can offer powerful relief from some of the emotional suffering when we feel especially stuck or unrelenting. Many people who receive IADC report a spontaneous, vivid experience of connection with their deceased loved one—described not as imagination, but as a felt sense of presence, a message, a memory, or a sensory encounter. These experiences often bring profound comfort, clarity, and peace.

Unlike models of grief that frame healing as “letting go” or “moving on,” IADC supports a process of integration—making space for the ongoing bond you share with the person who died. Grief changes over time, but love doesn’t disappear. This therapy offers a gentle, affirming path to stay connected while also making room to live, feel, and relate more fully in the present.
