This offering was developed to support the staff of the Philadelphia Museum of Art during their exhibition Elegy, which engaged with themes of grief and racial trauma. Co-presented with Lenee Voss, the session created space for reflection, emotional processing, and tools for care, both individually and in community.

This presentation has been shared with a variety of audiences, including Circle of Life Community Organization, VNA Hospice, and community groups such as elder circles and local centers. While I co-presented the version pictured here, the content is my own and has continued to grow and evolve through ongoing reflection and experience.

This introduction to death doula work explores how we can reclaim agency, compassion, and meaning in end-of-life care. I’ve shared this presentation with oncology social workers at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, as well as with medical and nursing students. In truth, I believe death education has a place in nearly every setting—because how we die shapes how we live.

This “Grief 101” presentation is designed for professionals in related and complementary fields who want to better support grieving clients. Together, we explore and gently challenge common myths about grief—both the ones we hold ourselves and those that show up in our work. I’ve shared this talk annually for the past three years with genetic counselors as part of their psychosocial training requirements, and it can be tailored for a wide range of professions

Perfect as a conference break, community-building activity, happy hour kickoff, or just a way to blow off steam with some unexpected knowledge and laughter.

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought this challenge to the fore for many volunteer leaders, including how to approach and process grief and loss around the death of a volunteer or ambiguous losses related to changes necessitated by safety protocols. This co-facilitated workshop merged the professional perspectives of volunteer engagement leadership, death doulas, and social work to present empathic and evidence-based approaches to grief and loss for volunteer leaders.

I have taught undergraduate and graduate-level classes at the University of Pennsylvania, Northwestern University, West Chester University, and Arcadia University on topics including death doulas, grief theory, and end-of-life care. All presentations are thoughtfully tailored to the needs of the class and audience, with room for discussion, case studies, personal reflection, and deep engagement.

This gathering has been offered in collaboration with Your Death Project Manager and Uncommon Threads Therapy, welcoming non-monogamous communities into conversation about grief in all its forms. We explore the unique layers of relational grief—breakups within breakups, shifts in connection, endings, new beginnings, and the changes that ripple through chosen families and networks.
